General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM)

ICFAI Nursing School operates as a constituent unit of ICFAI University, Tripura. The university made its foray into the realm of Nursing Sciences during the academic year 2019-20. The school is approved by the Tripura Nursing Council and Indian Nursing Council, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards in the field of nursing education.

Pass 10+2 exam with English as one of the subject and must have obtained a minimum 40% marks in aggregate for general candidate of any stream.

35% marks required for SC/ST candidate from any stream

Age should be 17-35 (5 % relaxation for SC/ ST candidates)

Education Methodology

Nursing professionals are required to stay updated with new findings, ensuring that students progress alongside other health professionals to meet the evolving needs and demands of their profession.

Therefore, the structure of the nursing program is designed to train future professionals with a focus on adaptability. ICFAI Nursing School is dedicated to cultivating the image of future nurses from the very beginning, aligning with ethical standards. The school, supported by qualified faculty, adheres to nursing pedagogy and relies on a learning management system to enhance the educational experience.

Classroom Instruction: Students receive full time classroom instruction, which allow them learn and consolidate their understanding of the subject. Courseware: The library offers a collection of highquality course materials, including textbooks and record books, specifically crafted for independent study. The independent study approach empowers students to attain a predetermined level of knowledge through self-directed learning.
Assignments: Assignments are administered as a part of the practice and evaluation schemes and is an important component of internal evaluation/td> Lab Sessions: The laboratories provide range of resources for nursing students in different fields, empowering them to develop the essential skills required for the nursing profession.
Development Sessions: In addition to nursing education, students are provided with language development session during the course of their study IT Training: Proficiency in information technology is crucial for nurses to thrive in the contemporary, technology-intensive healthcare environment.
Seminars: Seminars are conducted on current health issues. These seminars help students interact with professionals in health industry and expand their knowledge base. Guest Lecture: Guest lecturers play an important role in developmental process of the student’s .Eminent academicians and practicing professionals are invited for guest lecturers where students get an opportunity to interact closely with them and understand the practical applications of various concepts and idea.
Clinical Visit: Nursing students undertake hospital & community visit for first-hand practical exposure. It gives them unique experience at the patients’ bedside as well as in the community fields related to health issues. Evaluation: Student performance in course will be assessed by means of continuous evaluation throughout the year as per the guideline of Tripura Nursing Council. Students will be evaluated on the basis of assignments, seminars, projects, clinical exposure, various tests and OSCE method then final evaluation will be done by Tripura Nursing Council.

Admission Modalities

The Admission Modalities are with reference to the full-time General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) offered by the ICFAI University, Tripura. The medium of instruction is English.

Eligibility

  • Successful completion of the 10+2 level of education from a recognized Board.
  • Age should be 17-35 years only female (5 years relaxation in SC/ST candidates) as per Government admission notification.

The selection of applicants for GNM program is on the basis of merit through application and interview. While evaluating applicants for admission, due weightage is given to academic distinction, awards in sports/cultural events, debates, quizzes and other extra co-curricular activities.

  • The applicants will have to go through a personal interview at the campus. This is to determine the applicants' attitude and motivation to pursue the program.
  • Original certificates and Domicile certificate should be produced for verification at the time of interview. The original certificates will be returned after verification.
  • The admission decision will be communicated after the interview process. All the selected applicants will be required to pay the admission fee after selection.

  • Provide all available information under appropriate sections.
  • Make sure to sign the Application Form.
  • Retain a photocopy of the completed Application Form.
  • Students can buy the prospectus by remitting ₹ 500 through online or by cash.

Applicants have to enclose self attested copies of the following certificates

  • Date of Birth Certificate /Class X Certificate
  • Marks sheets of Class XII/ Degree certificate (as may be applicable)
  • Non-submission of mark sheets/ grade sheets of all examinations may lead to rejection of application form.
  • Domicile Certificate
  • Any other certificates pertaining to academic and other activities

Fee comprises of Admission Fee, Program Fee, Caution Deposit (Refundable) and Hostel fee as per the details mentioned below:

Admission Fee

All candidates have to pay an Admission Fee of ₹ 20,000 towards the confirmation of admission.

Program Fee

Students should pay the fee mentioned in the table below at the beginning of each semester as per the due dates indicated in the Student Handbook.

Additional Fee:

Student Activity Fund: `1,500 to be charged in the 1st year 2nd semester (One-time payment)

Alumni Fee: `1,000 to be paid in two installment (`500 each) by the fi nal year students in their last 2 semester.

Hostel facility is available within the campus. Students will be required to pay the hostel fee as mentioned in the following table:

Hostel Accommodation per semester  ₹. 17,000 per semester for 1st year. Subsequent years fee will be communicated before the commencement of the academic year.

Mess Charges Actual cost will be work out in consultation with Mess Committee.
